Aligners Treatments
Clear aligners straighten your teeth with a series of custom, nearly invisible trays — no metal brackets. We map out your full treatment and cost up front and offer CareCredit financing.
Flexible Scheduling
Aligner treatment needs fewer in-office visits than traditional braces. We schedule your check-ins around your calendar and move you to new trays on a timeline that works for you.
A Great Looking Smile
Clear Aligners at Northern Smiles Dentistry
Looking for a clear aligner dentist in Phoenix? At Northern Smiles Dentistry & Orthodontics, Dr. Troy Stansberry treats teens and adults with ClearCorrect aligners — a series of custom-made, nearly invisible trays that move your teeth into place without metal brackets or wires.
Because the trays come out for meals and brushing, there is no list of foods to avoid and no threading floss around hardware. Most patients need fewer in-office visits than they would with braces, which is why aligners suit busy schedules so well.
Not every case is an aligner case. If your bite needs more correction than trays can deliver, we will tell you and walk you through braces and other orthodontic options in Phoenix instead.
How It Works
How ClearCorrect Aligners Straighten Your Teeth
Treatment starts with a digital scan of your teeth. From that scan we map every movement from where your teeth are today to where they need to end up, then a series of trays is manufactured to match that plan.
Your Treatment, Step by Step
Each tray is worn about two weeks and shifts your teeth a fraction of a millimetre. You swap to the next tray in the series, and the small changes add up. We check your progress every six to eight weeks — short visits, since there are no wires to adjust.
Wear Time Is What Matters
Aligners only work while they are in your mouth. Plan on 20 to 22 hours a day, taking them out to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush. Patients who stay close to that number finish on schedule; patients who do not usually need extra refinement trays at the end.
We give you the full treatment length and the full cost before you start, and we accept CareCredit financing so the payments fit your budget.
Comparing Your Options
ClearCorrect Aligners vs. Braces
Both straighten teeth. They differ in how visible they are, how much they ask of you, and what they can correct.
Where Aligners Win
They are hard to notice in conversation, which is why most of our adult patients choose them. They come out, so you eat and brush normally. There are no brackets to break, so fewer emergency visits. And most cases need fewer chair-side appointments.
Where Braces Still Win
Braces are fixed in place, so they work whether or not you remember them — often the deciding factor for younger patients. They also handle severe rotations, large gaps, and significant bite corrections that trays cannot move predictably.
After examining your bite we will tell you honestly which one fits your case. If braces are the better answer, that is what we will recommend.
What We Can Correct
What Clear Aligners Can and Cannot Fix
ClearCorrect handles most mild to moderate alignment problems: crowded teeth, gaps and excess spacing, mild overbite and underbite, and teeth that have drifted back after previous orthodontic work — a common reason adults come to see us.
Cases That Need More Than Trays
Severe crowding, teeth that need substantial rotation, large vertical movements, and skeletal bite problems where the jaws themselves are misaligned generally need braces, and occasionally a specialist referral. A tray can only move a tooth so far before it loses its grip on it.
Why This Matters Before You Pay
Mail-order aligner companies skip the in-person exam. That is how people end up mid-treatment with a bite that no longer meets correctly. We examine your teeth, gums, and bite first, and we treat gum disease before any tooth is moved.
Who They Suit
Clear Aligners for Teens and Adults
About one in five orthodontic patients today is an adult, and aligners are a large part of why. If you passed on braces as a teenager, nothing about being older rules out treatment — healthy teeth can be moved at any age.
Adults
Most of our adult aligner patients tell us the same thing: they want straighter teeth without spending a year in visible hardware at work. Before starting, we check carefully for gum disease, since moving teeth in an unhealthy foundation causes damage. Any gum treatment comes first.
Teens
Aligners work well for teens who will genuinely keep them in. That is the whole question — a tray in a backpack is not treating anything. We are straight with families about it, and for teens who are not ready, braces are the more reliable choice.
For younger children still growing, treatment usually starts with early orthodontic evaluation rather than aligners.
Cost & Financing
How Much Do Clear Aligners Cost in Phoenix?
Clear aligner treatment in the Phoenix area generally runs $2,000 to $8,500. Where you land depends almost entirely on how far your teeth have to travel, which is also what determines how many trays you need.
By Case Complexity
Minor corrections — a little crowding, a small gap, relapse after old orthodontic work — typically run $3,000 to $4,000. Moderate cases run $4,000 to $6,000. Complex cases needing significant movement run $6,000 to $8,000 or more, and some of those are better treated with braces anyway.
Monthly Payments
Most patients here finance rather than pay in full. With CareCredit, plans in the Phoenix market commonly start around $134 to $145 a month depending on the total and the term. Many PPO plans include an orthodontic benefit that applies to aligners — worth checking, because it is often a lifetime maximum rather than an annual one.
We give you the full treatment length and full cost before your first tray, not partway through. See insurance and financing, or our detailed breakdown of clear aligner costs in Phoenix.
| Case complexity | Typical treatment length | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Minor corrections | 4 – 6 months | $3,000 – $4,000 |
| Moderate cases | 6 – 12 months | $4,000 – $6,000 |
| Complex cases | 12 – 24 months | $6,000 – $8,000 or more |
| Aligner brand | Cost range | Monthly payment |
|---|---|---|
| ClearCorrect | $4,000 – $5,500 | from $134 per month, no interest |
| Invisalign | $3,000 – $8,000 | from $145 per month |
Dental insurance with an orthodontic benefit commonly covers up to $1,000 of the total.
After Treatment
Wearing and Caring for Your Aligners
Rinse your trays each time they come out and brush them gently with a soft brush and cool water. Hot water warps the plastic and ruins the fit. Never wrap a tray in a napkin — that is how most lost aligners are lost.
Retainers Are Not Optional
Teeth drift back toward where they started. It is the single most common way people undo a completed treatment. Wearing your retainer as directed holds everything in place while new bone and ligament form around the roots.
See our after-care instructions for the full routine, and call us if a tray cracks or stops fitting.
Why we use ClearCorrect
We use ClearCorrect rather than carrying every aligner brand on the market, and it is a fair question why.
ClearCorrect is made by the Straumann Group, one of the largest dental manufacturers in the world, which acquired it in 2017. The aligners themselves are designed and produced in Round Rock, Texas. For the mild-to-moderate crowding and spacing that most aligner patients actually present with, it does the job at a lower and more predictable price: our ClearCorrect cases typically run $4,000 – $5,500, against a $3,000 – $8,000 spread for Invisalign.
Where a case genuinely needs something else — significant bite correction, for instance — we will tell you that rather than fitting the case to the system we happen to stock. See braces and orthodontics for those.
Aligner check-ins in North Phoenix
Aligner treatment trades long appointments for short, regular check-ins — usually every six to eight weeks to collect the next trays and confirm teeth are tracking. We are on 16th Street between Glendale and Northern Avenues in 85020, a few minutes from Sunnyslope and the Glendale Avenue corridor. See our North Phoenix dental office for hours. Between check-ins you wear the trays at home, so the visits themselves are short and easy to fit around work.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do clear aligners cost in Phoenix? +
Cost depends on how much movement your teeth need and the length of treatment. We provide a customized quote at your consultation and offer CareCredit financing so you can straighten your smile within your budget.
How long does clear aligner treatment take? +
Many patients finish in about 6 to 18 months, depending on the complexity of their case. Wearing your aligners 20 to 22 hours a day keeps treatment on schedule.
Are clear aligners better than braces? +
They're a great fit for mild to moderate alignment issues and are removable and nearly invisible. Very complex cases may still be best treated with braces. We recommend the right option after examining your bite.
Do clear aligners hurt? +
You may feel mild pressure or soreness for a day or two each time you start a new set of trays — a sign they're working. It typically fades quickly and is much less noticeable than braces being tightened.
Will I need a retainer after clear aligners? +
Yes. Teeth naturally tend to drift back, so wearing a retainer as directed after treatment is essential to keep your new smile straight for the long term.
