Your first visit at Northern Smiles
We are accepting new patients of all ages at our North Phoenix office. Here is exactly what happens when you come in, so there are no surprises.
Step 1
Before you arrive
Complete your new-patient paperwork ahead of time so your appointment is spent with the dentist rather than at the front desk. Bring a photo ID, your insurance card if you have one, a list of your current medications, and any recent X-rays from a previous dentist.
Step 2
A full exam, not a rushed one
We take a complete medical and dental history, then examine your teeth, gums, bite, and jaw joint. That includes checking for bone loss, loose teeth, and signs of gum disease — plus an oral cancer screening at no extra charge.
Step 3
An honest explanation
Dr. Stansberry walks you through what he found and what it means, in plain language. That includes what is genuinely urgent, what can wait, and what needs nothing more than watching.
Step 4
Your plan and your cost
You leave with a written treatment plan and the cost of each item, including your estimated insurance portion. Nothing gets scheduled until you have agreed to it.

How long does a first appointment take? +
Plan on about an hour for a new-patient exam and cleaning. A dental implant consultation typically runs about 30 minutes. If you are coming in for a specific problem such as a toothache, we will focus on getting you comfortable first.
What should I bring to my first visit? +
A photo ID, your dental insurance card if you have one, a list of any medications you take, and any recent X-rays from another dentist. Patients under 18 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Do you see children? +
Yes. We provide pediatric dentistry alongside general and cosmetic care, so families can be seen in one place rather than split across offices.
