Family Dentistry

Your Family Dentist in Phoenix, AZ

Every Age, One Office

Dentistry for the whole household

Northern Smiles Dentistry & Orthodontics is a family dental practice in North Phoenix. Dr. Troy Stansberry treats children, teens, adults and seniors at 7501 N 16th St Suite 100 — so a first check-up, a set of braces, and an implant can all happen at the same office, with the same records and the same dentist.

One office, one set of records

Most practices that call themselves family dentists still refer out the moment anything complex appears. Dr. Stansberry’s hospital residency covered oral surgery, implants, prosthodontics and periodontics, so implants and orthodontics happen here rather than at a second office across town.

Appointments that fit one trip

Where scheduling allows, we group family members so you make one journey rather than three. Our earliest weekday starts are 7:30am, before the school run.

Straight answers about cost

You get a written treatment plan with your estimated insurance portion before anything is scheduled — including what does not need treating yet. We accept most PPO plans and offer CareCredit financing.

The same dentist each time

Continuity is the quiet advantage of a small practice. The person examining your child at seven is the person who saw them at three, and who remembers which tooth you have been watching.

Care By Life Stage

What family dentistry looks like at each age

Children

First visit by age one, then every six months. Cleanings, fluoride, sealants, and a watchful eye on how the jaw and bite are developing — problems caught while a child is still growing are usually simpler and cheaper to correct.

Teens

The orthodontic window, when most permanent teeth are in and growth is still underway. Also when wisdom teeth start to show up on X-rays, and when a sports mouthguard stops being optional.

Adults

Prevention, plus repairing what previous decades did. Old fillings fail, teeth crack, gum disease creeps in quietly. This is also when most people start thinking about how their smile looks rather than only how it works.

Seniors

Replacing missing teeth, managing dry mouth from medication, and keeping natural teeth as long as possible. Dr. Stansberry trained in geriatric dentistry and the treatment of medically compromised patients during his VA hospital residency.

What Our Patients Say

We know that finding a new dentist isn't exactly the easiest process, but we hope that seeing some of our patient reviews and testimonials will shed some light on why we think we are the best dental office in Arizona!

Common Questions

Family dentist FAQs

What is a family dentist? +

A family dentist treats patients of every age in one practice, rather than limiting care to adults or to children. In practice it means your whole household can be seen at the same office, with the same records and the same dentist, from the first baby tooth through to implants and dentures.

What is the difference between a family dentist and a general dentist? +

A general dentist may treat only adults. A family dentist treats all ages, including young children, and tends to offer a broader range of services under one roof so families are referred out less often.

Can my whole family be seen on the same day? +

Often, yes. Where the schedule allows we group family appointments so you make one trip instead of several. Mention it when you book and we will do our best to line them up.

Do you accept my dental insurance? +

We accept most PPO dental insurance plans. Plans differ, so the reliable answer comes from a quick benefits check — call (602) 944-9197 with your plan details, or bring your card to your first visit and we will verify coverage for you. CareCredit financing is available for treatment beyond your coverage.

What are your hours? +

Monday 07:30 AM to 4:00 PM; Tuesday 08:30 AM to 5:30 PM; Wednesday 07:30 AM to 2:00 PM; Thursday 07:30 AM to 3:00 PM; Friday 07:30 AM to 2:00 PM. We are closed Saturday and Sunday. Our earliest weekday appointments start at 7:30am.

Are you accepting new patients? +

Yes, patients of all ages. Our office is at 7501 N 16th St Suite 100 in North Phoenix, and you can request an appointment online or call (602) 944-9197.

What if someone in the family has a dental emergency? +

Call us as early in the day as you can and describe what is happening. We hold time for same-day emergency appointments during our regular weekday hours and will tell you whether you need to be seen today.
