When to Visit the Dentist

Regular Visits

When to Visit the Dentist

Many people only go to the dentist when something is wrong. That is truly a shame, because they are missing out on so many preventive services that can save discomfort — and expense — down the road. Regular dental visits are essential to make sure oral health problems — from tooth decay to oral cancer — are detected and treated in a timely manner. Some individuals may need to see the dentist more often than others to stay on top of problems like plaque buildup and gum disease, but everyone should go at least once per year.

Your regular dental visits will include a thorough oral exam to check the health of your teeth and gums; and oral cancer screening to spot any suspicious signs early; and a professional cleaning to remove stubborn deposits and make your teeth look and feel great. So don’t miss out on the many benefits dentistry offers you and your family!

What should you bring to a smile consultation?

It is extremely helpful for you to bring in pictures you have collected — of smiles you like, smiles you don’t like, and/or photos of the way your own smile used to look if that’s the result you’re aiming for. Now is the time to get started on creating a smile that will make you feel as good as you look!

Treatment Options

Cosmetic Dental Treatments We Offer

"Cosmetic dentistry" is not one procedure — it is a set of tools, and the right one depends on what is actually bothering you.

Teeth Whitening

The least invasive option and often the only one needed. Nothing is removed from the tooth. See professional teeth whitening in North Phoenix.

Bonding

Tooth-coloured composite shaped directly onto the tooth to repair a chip, close a small gap, or reshape an uneven edge. Usually a single visit, and reversible in the sense that little or no enamel is removed.

Veneers

Thin custom shells bonded to the front of the teeth, covering shape, colour and minor alignment issues at once. They handle discolouration that will not whiten. Because a small amount of enamel is usually removed to seat them, veneers are a long-term commitment rather than something to try out.

Crowns

When a tooth is broken down or heavily filled, a crown restores both strength and appearance. This is where cosmetic and restorative work overlap.

Straightening First

If the underlying issue is alignment, clear aligners or braces usually come before any cosmetic finish. Placing veneers on crooked teeth removes far more tooth structure than moving them first would have.

Cost & Financing

What Cosmetic Dentistry Costs in Phoenix

Cost depends entirely on which treatment you need and how many teeth are involved, so any figure quoted before an examination is guesswork.

As a rough ordering: whitening is the least expensive, bonding sits in the middle and is priced per tooth, and veneers and crowns are the largest investment — also priced per tooth, which is why a "full smile makeover" figure varies so widely between people.

What Insurance Covers

Purely cosmetic treatment is generally not covered. Where a treatment also restores function — a crown on a cracked tooth, for instance — insurance often contributes, and we will identify which parts of your plan qualify rather than assuming none do.

We accept most PPO plans and offer CareCredit financing so treatment can be spread across monthly payments. See insurance and financing options.

Doing It in Stages

A smile makeover does not have to happen at once. Many patients whiten first, live with it, then decide about bonding or veneers later. We will give you the full plan in writing and you can work through it at whatever pace suits your budget.

TreatmentRelative costPriced byTypically covered by insurance?
Teeth whiteningLowestPer treatmentNo — purely cosmetic
BondingMid-rangePer toothSometimes, where it repairs damage
VeneersHighestPer toothGenerally not
CrownsHighestPer toothOften, when restoring a cracked or damaged tooth

This is why a single "smile makeover" price varies so widely between people — the total depends entirely on which of these you need and how many teeth are involved.

Smile consultations in North Phoenix

Cosmetic work starts with a conversation about what you want to change, and it is easier to have that in person than over a form. Our office is on 16th Street between Glendale and Northern Avenues in 85020 — convenient for Sunnyslope, Moon Valley, North Central Phoenix and the Biltmore area. More about our North Phoenix dental office. Because cosmetic work is usually planned across a few visits, being ten minutes away rather than across the valley makes the whole course easier to commit to.

Your Smile Makeover

Your Smile Makeover

The most important job you have as a member of your own smile makeover team is to communicate exactly what you don’t like about your smile and how you’d like it to be different. Before the first consultation, give some thought to the following questions:

  • Likes & Dislikes

What do you like or dislike about the color, size, shape and spacing of your teeth?

  • Your Smile

Are you pleased with how much your teeth show, both when you smile and when your lips are relaxed?

  • Teeth Variation

Do you want teeth that are perfectly aligned and a bright “Hollywood White,” or would you prefer a more natural look with slight color, shape and shade variations?

  • Your Gums

Would you like more or less of your gums to show when you smile?

Frequently Asked Questions

What cosmetic dental treatments do you offer? +

We offer professional teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, tooth-colored bonding, crowns, and complete smile makeovers. At your consultation we recommend the combination that best fits your goals.

How much does cosmetic dentistry cost? +

It ranges widely — whitening is relatively affordable, while veneers or a full makeover are larger investments. We provide a personalized estimate and offer financing so you can plan treatment comfortably.

Are veneers permanent? +

Veneers are a long-term restoration. Because a thin layer of enamel is usually prepared to place them, the process isn't reversible, and veneers are eventually replaced after many years of wear. We'll review the trade-offs before you commit.

How long does teeth whitening last? +

Professional whitening results can last from several months to a few years depending on your diet and habits. Avoiding staining foods and drinks and using touch-up trays helps keep your smile bright.

Can cosmetic dentistry fix crooked teeth? +

Mild cases can sometimes be improved with veneers or bonding, but for true alignment we may recommend clear aligners or orthodontics. We'll help you decide which approach gives the best long-term result.

How long do veneers last? +

Well-made veneers commonly last 10 to 15 years or more with good care. They can chip or come loose, and they are eventually replaced. Avoiding nail-biting, ice-chewing and using teeth as tools makes a real difference to their lifespan.

Is cosmetic dentistry covered by insurance? +

Purely cosmetic work generally is not. Treatment that also restores function — such as a crown on a damaged tooth — is often partly covered. We check your specific plan and show you which parts qualify before you commit.

Should I whiten before getting veneers or crowns? +

Yes. Restorations keep whatever shade they are made in and do not respond to whitening later. Whitening your natural teeth first means the new work can be matched to the shade you actually want to keep.

Do I need braces before cosmetic work? +

Sometimes. If teeth are noticeably crooked, straightening them first means the cosmetic finish removes less tooth structure and lasts longer. After an exam we will tell you honestly whether alignment should come first.
